Biography
Teaching has always been a dream of mine. I remember wanting to be a teacher from a very young age, Grade 1 in fact. I always played school with my friends and siblings. I became a lifeguard and swimming lesson instructor for six years and I volunteered to coach volleyball teams and in classrooms in schools in Saskatoon.
I started pursuing my teaching career in 1999 when I attended The University of Saskatchewan. I graduated from the Teaching program in 2003 with a Bachelor of Education. The following year I decided to take a year to travel. I went to Scotland where I worked in a hotel, but volunteered in a Scottish school spending time in all the grades.
I returned from Scotland in Spring of 2004 and was married in Summer of 2004. My husband, Quentin and I then moved to Moose Jaw, SK where I started my first teaching job in a Grade 7/8 all boys classroom.
Later that year my husband and I decided to move to Medicine Hat, AB where he would attend Medicine Hat College and I would start teaching at Elm Street School. My first position at Elm Street School was in the Fall of 2005 teaching Kindergarten. The following year, 2006, I taught a Kindergarten/Grade 1 class. In Fall of 2007 I taught Grade 2 and that is the grade that I will be teaching this school year as well.
In the Spring of 2008 my husband and I also received news that we would be expecting our first child! Our first child is due December 30th and I look forward to becoming a mom and experiencing the next part of my life.
I look forward to going to work every day. I love seeing the look on the children's eyes when they learn something new and the desire that the students have to learn. My hope is to reach each child in my classroom in some way, whether it be academically or emotionally. I want to share my desire to learn with the kid's and hope they carry that on in their daily lives.
